The eight books long listed for the CWA Gold Dagger 2012 are:
A Land More Kind than Home by Wiley Cash (Transworld/Bantam)
Vengeance in Mind by N.J. Cooper (Simon & Schuster)
Grandad, There’s a Head on the Beach by Colin Cotterill (Quercus)
The Flight by M.R. Hall (Mantle)
The Rage by Gene Kerrigan (Vintage)
Turn of Mind by Alice LaPlante (Harvill Secker)
The Child Who by Simon Lelic (Mantle)
Bereft by Chris Womersley (Quercus)
You can find HERE my review of The Rage the only book in the list I’ve read so far, and HERE some additional information.

Like you, I loved The Rage. Turn of Mind is brilliant. I have also read The Flight and The Child Who and am somewhat amazed to see them on the list. I have not read the Colin Cotterill but from reviews & what I have heard, I’m also a bit surprised to see that one on the list, too. People say Bereft is very good so I may give that a go, though I really have had enough of WW1/WW2 based novels.
Your post on Turn of Mind was excellent Maxine. I must admit I somehow missed it when you first posted, but I had today a new opportunity to look into.
