Welcome to The Game’s Afoot. My name is Jose Ignacio. In my spare time I developed a taste for crime fiction, contemporary crime fiction in particular.
Nordic writers are among my favourites, Arnaldur Indriðason, Jo Nesbø, Karin Fossum, Åsa Larsson, Håkan Nesser, Johan Theorin, Karin Alvtegen, to name a few. I can’t forget Henning Mankell and, of course, Maj Sjöwall & Per Wahlöö. I also really enjoy Andrea Camilleri, Inspector Montalbano series, and Gianrico Carofiglio, Guido Guerrieri mysteries. I would not wish to ignore the South Africans, Deon Meyer and Roger Smith, nor the Australians, Peter Temple and Adrian Hyland. It would take me a whole page to mention the large number of Irish crime fiction writers that I’ve recently discovered. Clickety click HERE.
I’m very proud of some Spanish language writers, Ernesto Mallo (Argentina), Leonardo Padura (Cuba), and Domingo Villar (Spain). This list would not be complete if I forget Michael Connelly, Ian Rankin and Fred Vargas. Many more have been left out of this list due to my limitations; not on their merits. Anyway I have detected already Tana French, Malla Nunn, Denise Mina, Camilla Ceder, Mo Hayder, Camilla Lackberg, Arlene Hunt, and Megan Abbot. Some of their books are already on my shelves or on my Kindle.
My purpose is to keep track of the books I read. Please bear with me, I’m not a professional reviewer and, unless stated otherwise, I’ve bought the books I read. I write for my amusement and to help readers find new authors. I am not paid for these reviews and the opinions expressed here are my own.
