This challenge is hosted by Books after Books and runs from January 1 2011 to December 31 2011. The aim of the challenge is to read at least 12 books that are set in Italy. I have restricted myself to crime fiction books and have read so far:
-
The Wings of the Sphinx by Andrea Camilleri
-
Testigo Involuntario de Gianrico Carofiglio (Involuntary Witness)
- Muerte en Florencia de Marco Vichi (Death in Florence)
- Hasta nunca, mi amor de Massimo Carlotto (The Goodbye Kiss)
My plan is to read this summer the eight books by Camilleri that I have not read yet. So even if I’m slightly behind my goal, I might be able to get it done.
I just read The Snack Thief, making the seventh Montalbano book I’ve read. It was delightful. I did take a virtual vacation in Vigata for two days, which was delightful. The only problem is there are only six left in English.
Drawing Conclusions, Donna Leon’s latest, is good, and as a friend puts it, like putting on old, comfortable shoes.
A few people have pointed out the Marshall Browne series about Inspector Anders. Although Browne is Australian, the books are set in Italy.
