Karen at Euro Crime provides a list of translated crime novels, published between June 2011 and May 2012, and therefore eligible for the 2012 CWA International Dagger. It will certainly be difficult for the judges this year to come up with a winner. Among the ones I have read so far you can find some of my last year favourites:
- Arnaldur Indridason – Outrage
- Ernesto Mallo – Sweet Money
- Johan Theorin – The Quarry
- Jørn Lier Horst – Dregs
- Gianrico Carofiglio – Temporary Perfections
- K O Dahl – Lethal Investments
- Deon Meyer – Trackers
- Eduardo Mendoza – The Olive Labyrinth
- Petros Markaris – Basic Shareholder
I’m planning to read next: Guillermo Orsi – Holy City. Stay tuned.
It is going to be a very tough year for the judges, I agree. Looking forward to what you make of Holy City, which is not out here yet (but which I am intending to read when it is). Basic Shareholder is not availabe here yet, either, again one I am looking forward to. Annoying to have to wait so long for that one as I’ve seen it in other language translations months ago even a year ago I think – such is the economics of publishing, though.
