Pick of the Month – March 2013

March has been an excellent reading month, quality wise. My reading list was:

  • The Blind Goddess (Corvus, 2012). Kindle edtion, by Anne Holt. Translated by Tom Geddes.****
  • Nordic Noir (Pocket essentials, 2013). Kindle edition, by Barry Forshaw.*****
  • Capture (Serpent’s Tail, 2012). Kindle edition, by Roger Smith.*****
  • Last Will (Transworld Digital, 2012). Kindle edition, by Liza Marklund. Translated by Neil Smith.*****
  • The Blinded Man aka Misterioso (Vintage, 2012), by Arne Dahl. Translated by Tiina Nunnally.****
  • El inocente (Planeta, 1985), by Mario Lacruz.*****

It’s quite impossible to pick only one book. Therefore, I’ll split the honour as follows:

  • Best Spanish original goes to: El inocente
  • Best English original goes to: Capture
  • Best translated book goes to:  Last Will

But all the books I’ve read should be highlighted.

  1. José Ignacio – You really have had a good reading month! Not a disappointment in the group, and that’s wonderful. And you have reminded me that I must re-read Capture. Roger Smith writes an excellent thriller.

  2. That’s a sneaky way to do it Jose Ignacio…. I couldn’t separate my reading last month either – it’s all very nice to be reading good books all the time but how does one pick a favourite?

I really must read some Roger Smith.
