10 Spanish-American Crime Novels in Disguise

Following my previos post 10 Spanish Crime Novels in Disguise I’ve come up with the following list by Spanish-American writers that may well fall within this category (in chronological order):

  1. El tunel (1948) de Ernesto Sábato (The Tunnel)
  2. Triste, solitario y final (1973) by Osvaldo Soriano (Sad, lonely and final)
  3. Crónica de una muerte anunciada (1981) by Gabriel García Márquez (Chronicle of a Death Foretold)
  4. Luna caliente (1983) by Mempo Gardielli (Hot Moon)
  5. La pesquisa (1994) by Juan José Saer (Inquiry)
  6. Plata quemada (1997) by Ricardo Piglia (Money to Burn)
  7. Los destectives salvajes (1998) by Roberto Bolaño (The Savage Detectives)
  8. La fiesta del chivo (2000) by Mario Vargas Llosa (The Feast of the Goat)
  9. El vuelo de la reina (2002) by Tomás Eloy Martínez (The Flight of the Queen)
  10. El enigma de París (2007) by Pablo de Santis (The Paris Enigma)

My idea is to read, mainly re-read them all in due course looking for those crime fiction elements, if any. Stay tuned.

Comments are welcome.
