The Grand Budapest Hotel is a 2014 English-language comedy-drama film written and directed by Wes Anderson and inspired by the writings of Stefan Zweig. The film was released in Spain on 20 March 2014. The story revolves around the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The action involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune — all against the back-drop of a suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.
Begoña and I had the opportunity to see this film recently. I very much enjoyed it. Very entertaining and highly recommended. A great tribute to the author of The World of Yesterday, one of the books I have in highest esteem. (See here a great interview with Wes Anderson)
