Winery: Cellers Can Blau S.L., Carretera El Masroig. 43736 El Molar (Tarragona), founded in 2003, is one of the oldest projects of the Gil Family States in Jumilla. Placed in El Molar, in the D.O. Montsant, this winery is the most diverse project regarding the grape varieties and the type of soils. The D.O. Montsant is nowadays releasing at its best the enological quality of its wines. Differently from its illustrious adjacent D.O. Priorato, in D.O. Montsant they work with unique varieties such as Cariñena or Mazuelo and Grenache, planted in and adapted to different types of soils. Nuria López Sarroca is the person in charge of the technical direction of the Winery.

Montsant has only been a recognized wine region since 2001, even though they’ve been producing wine in this area of Catalonia for centuries (it’s rumoured to have Spain’s oldest Syrah vines.)
Blau 2013 is an exceptional value. A full-blown Montsant for a ridiculously low price. (Enterwine)
A polished, immensely fruity carignan-syrah-grenache from Montsant which neighbours famous Priorat. This shares the same satisfyingly rich and powerful style but at a much friendlier price. (The Wine Society)
