A former hunting lodge with a small baroque garden dated back to the 18th century, located on the Monte de El Pardo, 15 kms outside Madrid. The Palace de la Quinta de El Pardo originated in a farmhouse that was bought by the Duke of Arco, Don Alonso Manrique de Lara and Silva (a courtier and close friend of King Philip V [1683 – 1746]) The house was built in 1717 by the architect Juan Gómez de Mora and reminds the Zarzuela Palace. On the death of the Duke in 1745, the Duchess donated the property to the King Philip V and to his wife Elizabeth Farnese, and was joined to the Royal Site of El Pardo.
