To mark Agatha Christie’s 125th anniversary I have just ordered, The ABC Murders, first release January 1936.
This story was a departure from Agatha Christie’s usual style, tackling the modern figure of the serial killer and the psychology behind it. Psychoanalytic theory was increasingly popular in the late 1930s and while the police officers cite contemporary theories, Poirot notably refrains from using that terminology. Christie also used this novel to continue her experiments with point of view, following the footsteps of her favourite author Charles Dickens, as she switches between first and third person narration. Agatha Christie’s books reviewed at The Crime is Afoot (The Game is Afoot, obvioulsy, just wonder what I was thinking about?):
Accident (a short story)
And one of the most visited of my blog entries: Following Agatha’s Steps: Canary Islands, February 1927
I hope you’ll enjoy The ABC Murders, José Ignacio. I think it’s one of Christie’s really well-written plots.
Thanks Margot, I look forward to this one. I don’t remember reading it.
Well done Jose Ignacio. I have added this post to the ACRC Blog Carnival http://acrccarnival.blogspot.com.au/
Appreciate that, Kerrie. Thank you!
Of these Christie books you have mentioned, I have only read Peril at End House and The Murder of Roger Ackyroyd (long time ago). Got to pick up my pace on reading Christie. I checked out your review of Sad Cypress; it sounds good. And the ABC Murders also sounds good, I await your review on that.
Thank you Tracy!
Great selection Jose Igancio and I love ABC.
I appreaciate your comment very much, Sergio!
