A Sentence To Sum Up All

Yesterday I read the following sentence from The Fellowship of the Ring which, in my view, sums up very well what has happened. And I have felt the need to share it here. (The emphasis is mine):

tolkien “I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
”So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ( J.R.R. Tolkien)

  1. Yep. But the real trouble is that it’s not my time that’s important here. It’s my daughter and my grandson who’re going to have to live with the implications.

  2. Thanks, Jose ignacio. That is a lovely sentiment that perhaps I can keep in mind when I worry about the way things are all around the world.

  3. Devastated. But don’t give up on us… I reckon we’ve given ourselves such a shock most of us are now more desperate to actually start working together with Europe than we’ve ever been. Keep the door open for us…
