Begoña and I had the opportunity to go see Paterson this week. The title refers to both the name of the main character and the city in which the action takes place. Though it might be somewhat excessive to call it action, given that in the film nothing really happens. The story narrows down to following one week in the life of a couple. He, Paterson (Adam Driver), is a bus driver whose main activity, besides his work, is reduced to walking the dog every night, take one beer at a nearby pub and write poetry, although his poetry speaks only of daily life objects and situations. We soon find out that Patterson is also an epic poem by a local poet, William Carlos Williams. His wife, Laura (Golshifteh Farahani), is the total opposite, somebody able of turning everyone crazy. However they both love each other and lead a happy life. But even though it didn’t managed to get me bored, in my view the film is overvalued and has nothing to write home about.
