OT: Juan Carlos I Park (Madrid)

Yesterday, together with my hiking group, we took a tour around Juan Carlos I Park in Madrid. As I already stated in a previous entry, it was inaugurated during the celebration of “Madrid Capital of Culture” in 1992, and has an extension of 160 ha (400 acres) that houses a lake of 30,000 m2, a river of 1,900 m. to length, 13,000 m. of walks, 21 hectares of olive groves, 19 outdoor modern sculptures, a garden called the Three Cultures (“Tres Culturas“), and an auditorium. The park is operated by Madrid City Council. On its realisation were involved the architects and urban designers Jose Luis Esteban Penelas and Emilio Esteras Martín.
